The Osprey format is ideal for this subject, and I now know that Baracca was not the only Italian Ace, (there were nearly fifty) even though his name is the only one his countrymen remember from the Great War. This is a really good listing of all the Aces, and what they did. There is also a brief description of the Italian campaign, and an explanation of the way the scoring system worked. The photographs are marvellous.

It seems to me that proportionately many more Italian Aces survived the war than did those of the other nations, but sadly just as many died in aviation accidents soon after. I really enjoyed this Osprey offering.
