Despite the extensive modification of the Albatros DV that led to the DVa, wing failures continued leading to further tests.
According to the Windsock Datafile on the Albatros DV, in the field modifications consisted of :
replacement spar attachments
increasing the diamatere of drag and anti-lift cables 
reinforcing the wing ribs at the point where the auxiliary bracing structs were fitted from the front of the wing 'V' strut to the leading edge of the wing.
 
Later production DVa scouts were fitted with the higher compression Mercedes DIIIa engine, that improved performance and made up for the consequences of the DVa being heavier thatn the DV (itself a lightened DIII). Replacement pistons were made available for fitting in the field, with 1500 being available each month from March 1918.
