Aircrew killed while serving with 4 Reserve Squadron RFC (not at 2Lt 15 Battalion Hampshire Regiment attached 4RS RFC (pilot). 23.9.1916 Killed while flying Maurice Farman Shorthorn A929, aged 24. Passenger, AM 2 Bank, also killed. Native : Buried : Portsea (Hampshire 9). MF 11 A929 was built by the Aircraft Manufacturing Company at Hendon. It was fitted with an 80 hp Renault engine. MOLINEAUX, Albert Ward Spencer 2Lt 4RS RFC (pilot). 28.7.1916 Killed while flying Maurice Farman Shorthorn 515, aged 24. Passenger, Lt J F Smith, also accidently drowned. Native : Buried : MF 11 515 was one of a batch of 32 Maurice Farmans purchased from PRICE, Andrew Benjamin 2267 Sergeant 4RS RFC (pilot). 25.1.1917 (Thursday) killed while flying Maurice Farman Shorthorn A2526, aged 26. Passenger, AM2 B Hartley, also killed. (Note : Chris Hobson claims, in Airmen Died in the Great War, that this was 14 Wing). Born : Native : Failsworth. Buried : Failsworth, Son of George Price, MF 11 A2526 was one of a batch of 100 aircraft built by the Aircraft Manufacturing Company at Hendon. It was fitted with a 70 hp Renault engine. WHIPP, James Leonard 5616 AM2 4RS RFC. 6.1.16 Died aged 26. Natve : Ashton-on-Mersey. Buried : |
