Gents,

Just a suggestion, have you considered transferring the Meetings on-line across to a Webinar? The link is an example service. The event itself could be run in the real world but being filmed and recorded, the guest speaker feels that his words have a wider audience and a poor turnout doesn't seem to matter on the day.
You could 'cast' the event online and with appropriate targeted advertising, you might pull in a very respectable audience. You could even charge a little for it...

Hello,
Due to the post on WW2 talk forum, a friend and I attended the excellent talk on Rene Fonck. We will also be attending the next talk in October, so you can count on two more regulars at least, should you decide to organise a program for 2012. I'd encourage anybody to go, as we had a friendly reception from everybody we spoke to. I only have a very limited knowledge of WW1 aviation, confined to reading a few personal accounts by combatants, but the lecture was not bogged down with technical data as can sometimes be the case with enthusiasts.

I was one of those who did get to the last London meeting, June 10th on Albert Ball. I appreciate the issues of lack of attendance, but personally I always enjoy the meetings, and appreciate Jeff's hard work, and would miss them if they stopped.

Sadly I can't make the July 22nd one as we will be on holiday then but I will prioritise the rest.

I do still work, so they would have to be evenings if I was to get to them, and preferably no earlier than they are.

How about a compromise of a 6pm or 6.15pm start?  This will give those at work time to get across London as necessary and also benefit those that want to socialise afterwards with enough time for a convivial drink and no immediate pressure of dashing to the otherside of London for the last train home.

Afternoons are always better for those of us no longer burdened with employment, especially as they give more scope for homeward travel after the meeting.
But for members still working it may be a whole different situation.

Thanks Jonathon! I've just posted on the WFA Forum - lets hope Jeff is inundated with folk for Mike Pearce's July talk on Fonck Smile

It's been suggested that Friday evening might not be the best time for a meeting, and that Friday afternoon might be better for some. Any thoughts??

I sent to WW1-L as you know, also The Great War Forum, WW2 Talk and British Medal Forum.

I contemplated Victorian Wars Forum but decided it was a little outside their scope.

Quick work! I've already heard back from a mate in the US who saw your post on WWI-L Smile
Can I ask where else you've posted, so we don't get overlap??

Well I have posted details on several sites.  It may help - I hope it does as it would be a shame to lose these lectures.
