Many thanks

This is in connection with a Canadian, William S Rutherford, belived to have died on 15 May 1918.

Possibly he had some service with the Toronto Scottish Regiment, as his namesake was Colonel in the 1950s ?

Nick,

Can 183 might well relate to the reference system used on the old printed editions of the CWGC cemetery and memorial registers? Each individual cemetery and memorial was referenced in this manner. For example if the first 200 Canadian cemeteries were covered in a single register volume, then that volume would have been identified as covering cemeteries Can 1 - 200. Unfortunately the online version of the register does not seem to include these details.

An email to the CWGC might answer your query.

Errol
Many thanks for this.
The numbering system used in 'Cross of Sacrifice' may well have its origins with the CWGC, but I was hoping that someone had ready access to one of the books, as the two volumes I have are inaccessible presently.
