I recently bought an old pewter tankard with F/O E K Blenkinsop inscribed on it. I have found his WW1 medal record card but little else.
Does anyone have any information about this gentleman or perhaps suggestions as to where I might find out more?

Thanks
Ray

There are no AIR76 Officers Record for this man as he served after 1920. The medal is in the name of Eyare King Blenkinsop.  In 1921 he is listed as a F.O. at the Electrical and Wireless School, Winchester, part of 7 Group. Retired  circa 23/09/1929 and was still on the retired list in 1940.

Died  1st quarter 1953, Age 55 Registration District Liverpool North, Vol 10d, page 504, copy death certificate available from ONS on line.

His service record is still held by the RAF and you would need to contact the records section at .

RAF Disclosures Section
Room 221b
Trenchard Hall
RAF Cranwell
Sleaford
LINCS
NG34 8HB

But you do need a certificate of kinship, Birth certificate etc or sometimes if you ask them nicely and they feel inclined for £30.00 they will send you a transcript or if you wait a few more years the records will be in the TNA.

 The TNA does have some 2 Sqn records in AIR1/1274 - 284, and AIR1/2155 - 2161.

There is also a WO339 rcord WO339/70636 to an E Blenkinsop, might be your man?

Eyare King Blenkinsop Esq 1897-1953 was the last but one of the 11 children of Henry Weyman Blenkinsop 1854-1916 and his wife Maud nee King 1861-1938 of Warwick.  HW Blenkinsop was a successful solicitor, founding the firm of Heath and Blenkinsop, and the family lived for many years at 28 Jury Street, Warwick.  Maud was born in Barbadoes.

As far as I can discover on the ancestry websites, Eyare Blenkinsop never married.  If you want to know anything further about the family, just let me know.
