Major James TB McCudden Casemate UK Ltd, 17 Cheap Street, Newbury, RG14 5DD. 288pp, 120×190mm, ISBN 978 1 93514 910 1, £16.99 This is a welcome reissue of the memoir completed by McCudden within days of his death at the age of 23 in a stupid flying accident towards the end of World War I. It was first published in 1918, and an extended version in 1930. This is the latter, with the half-tone illustrations from the first. The author needs no introduction from me, and if you have not already got this book, it is highly recommended as both a thrilling account of the air war, and a percipient insight into the daily life of a pilot. |
