I just wanted to put in a plug for the London Meetings on HMS President this year. Jeff has gone to a great deal of trouble to organise them, and we have a very interesting programme once more.
Those of us at last week's meeting on May 28th greatly enjoyed Francis Hanford's talk on the first aviation activity at RAF Halton. It would have been good to see more of you there; attendance was rather lower than usual. Obviously it needs a certain level of attendance to make the meetings viable. Maybe people were going away for the bank holiday weekend; maybe some people thought the talk would be on the Apprentice scheme at Halton, and therefore not in our period of interest.
If the latter, they missed a treat. Francis was talking about the use of Lord Rothermere's Estate for the 1913 Army manouevres, in particular the part played by 3 Sqdn RFC. He made the leading historical characters come to life, and set the account in its social context. He made clear how the experience of the aerial part of the exercises influenced Great War tactics and policy, and went into some technical detail on the aeroplanes involved.
See the link on the site Home Page for further dates. I must admit I probably won't be able to make the one on 16th July; which is a shame as it sounds interesting, as do all the others.
For some reason at the end of the evening, I had in my head that there was a meeting on 25th June, which there isn't, and gave this erroneous information to several others including Colin Ashford. Are any of you in contact with Colin, to make sure that he has the correct dates? He must be about 90 and I would hate him to make the journey unnecessarily.

Im sorry I havent been to any of these for a year or so. I would endorse these lectures as tehy have always been of interest and Geoff deserves to be supported in this. I'll look up the link on the home page and check the diary.
Best regards,
