Particularly interested in Suffolk Regiment officer (rear row, far left) and Cambridgeshire Regiment officer (middle row, far left), but would like to know the identity of the orthers, the sqn., date etc. The officer sitting on the right is RAMC, the one on the left is (Cornwall ?) Light Infantry.

lm not near my sources but 56Sqn ring a bell.Central figure looks like Bloomfield.
Go compare as they say in Wales.

Didn't need to go to Wales, went next door and looked at 'High in the Empty Blue Sky': there are some similarities but definitely not Blomfield..

Have acquired medals to Capt Alfred Skinner 27th Sqdn kia 31/8/1918.It seems a shame that I have no photo to go with the medals, but have one of his adversary. Can anyone oblige please. jimrraw

Shouldn't his be 1916 not 1918 ?
Skinner was in one of four Martinsydes (7482) lost on 31.8.1916 bombing billets in Havrincourt Wood. After bombing, the formation was attacked, and Skinner was last seen going down in flames.
There are two possible claimants, either Ltn W Fahlbusch, KG1, who claimed a Martinsyde? or Ltn G Leffers, Jasta 1, who claimed a Martinsyde at 7:40 am over Mosilains.
Skinner had left Fienvillers at 6:20 am.
I would check Ancestry (in your local library) for a photo, as Skinner may well have an RAeC Ticket and Ancestry includes all the photos taken for the tickets (apart from the one missing album).
Otherwise, Chaz Bowyer's 'Flying Elephants' (history of 27 Squadron) might be worth a look and, of course, back numbers of the Journal : I think Chaz did an article on 27 Sqn and Paul Leaman wrote one on Elephants in 27 Sqn.

Yes your right about the date of death. These are the first RFC medals iv'e bought, usually collect to the Army. Am finding it a welcome diversion. Have Ancestry, but what are the tickets you mention. Sale Library have not got him on their data base, so I will buy Chas Bowyer's book, for astarter. Thanks for your info so far.

Civilian pilots underwent a flying test and, if they were successful, they received a certificate (commonly called 'taking your ticket') from the Royal Aero Club. This included a photograph. The Royal Aero Club has albums of all the photographs submitted for 'tickets' except one album which is missing.
 
Would be pilots could take their tickets before commissioning/transfer and claim back expenses (up to £75) when they were accepted.
 
The RAeC ticket became established as the basic test of flying skill, both by RFC/RNAS run flying schools and civilian flying schools training pilots for the RFC/RNAS.
 
However, not everyone went through this route, with the numbers who didn't seemingly increasing towards the end of the war.
 
Alfred Skiiner came from Brooklands, Cheshire, and was seconded to the RFC from the 4th Battalion, Prince of Wales's Volunteers (South Lancashire Regiment). He was aged 25 when he was killed. The 4th South Lancs was a TF battalion, with two lines. 1/4th was in 7 Brigade, 3 Div, becoming the Disional Pioneer battalion in October 1915 and moving to 55 Div (as Pioneers) in Jan. 1916. The 2/4th was part of 172 Brigade, 57 Div, which joined the BEF in Feb 1917.
