What instruments did RFC aircraft have? Specifically, I am looking for information about the F.E.8, the Nieuport 17, the Sopwith Pup, and the S.E.5a.

Just the basics : compass, ASI, altimeter, inclinometer (curved bubble spirit level).
The comtemporary issues of Flight (not the on-line version) are full of maker's adverts.

The S.E5a also had a rev counter, fuel pressure gauge and a watch holder.
