On 24th July 1916 Flt Sub Lt. Francis Joseph Bailey took off in Short Type 830 Seaplane no. 819 to patrol between Dunkirk and Thornton Ridge with passenger Sub Lt Mardock RNVR. He was brought down - presumably by enemy aircraft - and was taken prisoner . He was only 18 years old.  Anyone have any further information on this particular encounter?
Bailey was later repatriated and flew for the British Marine Air Navigation Company and  Imperial Airways
