The latest issue of Croydon Airport Society 'From the Archives' contains details of Herbert Howard 'Bo' Perry, just one of many former WW1 servicemen represented in the CAS archives.
 
Born in 1892, Perry is believed to have joined the RFC in 1912 as an air mechanic, but was selected for flying training in 1915. He received Ticket 1620 on a Shorthorn (the article is illuistrated with a Longhorn photo !)  on 20.8.1915 and was posted to the BEF.
 
Perry ended his servie carreer as a Warrant Officer with the AFM and went on to join Handley Page Transport Ltd in July 1920.
 
As usual with these articles, there is little information on the service career of people such as Perry as the emphasis is on airline service. 
 
This does suggest that the CAS Archive may be a repository of many 'hidden gems' and that an association between CAS and C&CI members migth be mutually beneficial ?
