In 1981 he left Avro, by then British Aerospace, for a similar post with De Havilland Canada in Toronto. As a penance for many enjoyable years being paid to break things he later changed specialisation to the design of structural repairs to in-service aircraft, which post he currently holds with Bombardier Aerospace. His interest in aviation began as a ‘reggie spotter’ whilst at school. He has published articles on various subjects in Aeroplane Monthly, Cross and Cockade, Over The Front and Jabberwock, the journal of the Friends of the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovilton.
