The author was for nearly twenty years with the Public Record Office and is now the Editor of Family History Monthly, so his ancestry is impeccable. It assumes no prior knowledge of military history, and is written in a simple step by step format which even I understood. As interest in The Great War continues to grow, books like this become ever more useful adjuncts.
