This is another superb unit history. About one third of it relates to the period up to the end of World War I, and even gets opinionated about who shot down von Richthofen, which had nothing to do with the Squadron. However, this is fully researched, well illustrated and written in a very readable way, mixing an agreeable series of anecdotes and letters with history. Apart from anything else, it is wonderful that No 3 Squadron has managed continuity, unlike so many of its peers, from the very beginnings of military aviation, until the present day. Indeed, it will be the first Squadron to be equipped with the Typhoon when it comes into service.
