This book was first published by Constable & Co in 2 volumes in
1995, under the title The Royal Flying Corps in France, (reviewed in
26/4). Now in a handy single volume paperback, I found it very readable
on holiday. Written in the anecdotal style made famous by Lyn Macdonald,
it tells the story of the airmen over the Western Front and (which is
very interesting) their mechanics, from diaries, letters and
conversations. |
