It seems unlikely that yet another book about von Richthofen should be worthy of your attention, but consider the following: the two authors have several successful collaborations behind them, and further, this book follows the successful pattern of O’Connor’s ‘Airfields and Airmen’ series, which have maps, photographs and itineraries which make it easy to follow the story on the ground. The familiar events are very well recounted by two masters, and, rarely, an opinion is expressed as to who actually did shoot the Red Baron down. As this opinion is one that I agree with, it is obviously worth the very reasonable price of the book by itself.
