This charming book is about Sopwith’s early days as an aircraft manufacturer, and the lease he took, early in World War I, of the Government constructed ‘No. 1’ Factory at Ham, near Kingston where at its peak, 90 aircraft a week were turned out. Between the wars, Leyland lorries and cars were the products, and then the factory reverted to aviation, culminating with much work on the Harrier. What a man Sopwith was!
