This is up to the usual high standard of Osprey publications.
It is nearly all about the Fokker Eindeckers and the men who flew them. I had not previously realised quite how long these machines remained in service, (it was towards the end of 1916 before they were finally retired). They were, of course, not very good machines, but the innovative interrupter gear mechanism enabling the aircraft to be pointed at an adversary, made them much feared in combat. The excellent script contains much contemporary reporting, and the wonderful photographs coupled with Harry Dempsey’s artwork, make this an informative delight. I spotted one of Wilhelm Frankl’s victims as being ‘Bonnier’ in a caption and ‘Bonet’ in the text, but this does not really detract from the value of this book.
