The tomes actual title does
include the line As complete a list possible arranged alphabetically and
chronologically and that pretty much does my job for me.
The first such work appeared in 1932 by W. von Eberhardt, but this was incomplete, and
only in alphabetical order. Rick Duiven has produced the chronological order enabling the
reader to better understand the day by day casualties. The book is purely a list, albeit a
very large and comprehensive one. For example, all deaths are listed, be they the result
of aerial combat or the world-wide epidemic of influenza, together with the place of
death, full name, rank and date of birth. Also, where possible, known losses which were
not fatal.
All in all pretty comprehensive, and no pictures I am glad to say. But I must admit I
havent checked all the dates... not yet. Whats the saying? Ah yes, buyer
beware. |
