This is Osprey Aircraft of the Aces No.66, and neither the series nor the author need any introduction. I was delighted to see that one of my heroes, Belgian Willy Coppens, has a chapter to himself. He was by far the top Balloon Buster on either side, downing more than twice as many as Frank Luke (and surviving). It is interesting to have the Germans included, for Balloon Busting was an individual occupation, and I have not seen an overall account before, only biographies. I was also surprised at how many famous names are included, as I was under the impression that the Aces in this field were specialists. The expected high class, information packed book, is completed by Harry Dempsey’s artwork, and comprehensive Appendices and Index. What excellent value this series is.
