This is the latest of a series of which I am becoming increasingly fond. I
found this volume to be very interesting, as I have never been able to come to grips with the Austro-Hungarian side of the War. The fact that the language (at least for the officers) was the same, but the ranks and names different, plus the unpronounceable places in which they fought, has always been an insurmountable obstacle, which this book does a lot to overcome. I am particularly impressed with the fact that both Russian and Italian Aces are mentioned as well. I learnt a lot, and have had my enthusiasm kindled.
There are lots of excellent pictures both of men and machines, 12 pages of colour plates, and a good appendix.
This books is quite up to the usual standard. |
