My father is as mad about aviation as I am and he turned up this in a local bookshop. It gives a good over-view to aviation on a regional basis but leaves scope for others to examine the sites in more detail.
The author begins with a brief examination of the development of aviation in the region, from its beginning to the end of WWII. Our period is covered sketchily. The bulk of the book is taken up with an airfield by airfield history. I found the odd new nugget and was pleased to see that some of the more interesting facts had not been overlooked, such as the stealing of a Hurricane from Usworth by a German spy.
The photographs are reproduced clearly but, while some are very relevant, others are generic shots.
