Salute gentlemen,

I am introducing you wooden propellers from WWI aircraft, which may be used as a beautiful decoration in interiors. I make them in my own at home, from plates of hard wood, using the same technique as was used during the first world war. They are usually scaled in 1:2 or 3:5 (120-160cm), because not many people have so much space for such a large piece of wood (even though several full-size pieces have been made as well) (o:

I have a prop that puports to be from a SE5a 200hp Hispano.This is engraved on the hub along with what seems to be serial nos?. One blade is sawn off at the hub and it is only in average condition.

A very rare original piece of aircraft fabric from the Fokker D.VII (4635/18) in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum collection is currently for sale at The Horse Soldier antique store in Gettysburg, PA:

(Go to “inventory” and then “WWI/ WWII.”  It is listed as item 476-36). 

 

The piece of fabric is 8 x 11 inches in size and appears to be the multi-color lozenge pattern used on the underside of the wings.  The piece belonged to aviation historian/author Stanley M. Ulanoff; the Smithsonian presented the fabric to him in 1969 to recognize his contributions to the restoration project.  The original piece is accompanied by a 1969-dated letter to Ulanoff that establishes provenance, as well as two large (1 yard square) pieces of the reproduction fabric used to restore the aircraft (manufactured by Greeff Fabrics).

 

Aircraft number 4635/18 is one of only seven remaining original Fokker D.VII fighters in the world.
