York
This meeting attracts members from all over the North and Midlands, with regular attendees from Peterbrough, Liverpool, Scarborough and Sunderland. Venue is The Ackhorne, on St Martin's Lane, just by the bottom end of Micklegate - with members starting to congregate at opening time - 12:00 noon. The meeting usually gets off to a good start with a plate of something and chips - together with a pint from an excellent selection. Hopefully by the time of the next meeting (February) the pub will be open again - and providing the usual excellent food & beer. There's no formal structure - just a group of enthusiasts nattering and exchanging views.
Organiser is Neal Stride, who can be contacted at neal.stride@googlemail.com.
2011 meeting dates are: 12th February; 14th May; 13th August and 5th November.
Essex
John Barfoot organises a regular tea & chat meeting in The Dugout. This historic location saw the start off Cross & Cockade in the UK back in the 1960s, when John formed the Essex Chapter of the US Cross & Cockade Society - years before the British society formed. Be a part of the history of Cross & Cockade - check with John (alias Flight Sergeant Dogzbody) at dbdy@btinternet.com.
Meetings are held at John's place in Romford on the first Friday of each month.
